Snatam Kaur - Har Har Har Har Gobinday

Har Har Har Har Gobinday (2103) “This mantra brings prosperity, happiness, and saves us from calamities. It is a sound current which brings a shield and brings good luck and removes discomfort and disease. It is the key to the doorway of self elevation.”- Yogi Bhajan

Sit in easy pose with your spine straight. Bend your elbows so that your hands are comfortably in front of you at approximately shoulder height. Chant the mantra:
Har Har Har Har Gobinday
Har Har Har Har Mukhanday
Har Har Har Har Udaray
Har Har Har Har Aparay
Har Har Har Har Hariang
Har Har Har Har Kariang
Har Har Har Har Nirnamay
Har Har Har Har Akamay

God the Sustainer
God the Liberator
God the Enlightener
God the Infinite
God the Destroyer of Evil
God the Creator
God the Nameless
God the Desireless

When you chant “Har”, quickly open and close your hands as you pull the navel point in and up. Repeat these actions each time you chant “Har”. Can be chanted for 11 or 31 minutes. (This CD is 62 minutes in length)

Snatam Kaur - Celebrate Peace (2005)

Snatam Kaur - Live in Concert

Recorded at concert halls, churches and yoga studios as Snatam Kaur and her ensemble traveled across North America, you’ll hear performances which soar to the heights of these sacred spaces and find a home in the hearts of their audiences. Join in the magical experience of Snatam Kaur Live in Concert. Also includes a bonus DVD, Path of Peace, that intimately chronicles this tour.

This album fulfills years of requests for Snatam Kaur to capture the experience of her live performances on CD. There is something mystical that happens at her concerts that is represented in these songs.

The album opens with Azure Salver, a prayer translated in the book Peace Lagoon (also availabe in our shop). This song has been a favorite at her concerts, but has never been recorded before. This song is hilighted by the clarity of Snatam's voice, the poetry of the lyrics, and the expert instrumental accompaniment.
The live version of Snatam's Ong Namo takes the recorded version into the ethers. Often when Snatam is on stage, she goes into a deep meditative space and spontaneously weaves improvisational poetry into the songs. Ong Namo has a beautiful example of this.
On Ong Sohung, Gobinda Hari and Adi Shakti, the dynamic interplay of the entire band is hilighted to perfection with incredible musical conversations between Snatam Kaur, Manish Vyas and GuruGanesha Singh, fantastic solos on guitar, violin, tabla and clarinet, and the lively experience of a slowly building rhythm that is unique to the live kirtan experience.
Shivohum is a track composed by Manish, and you will be singing this track for years to come. A beautiful duet between Snatam and Manish, this track has an an addictive energy and purity of sound that you will want to listen to again and again.

REVIEWS “When you hear Snatam sing, you have a sudden profound experience of how her work manifests itself in song. Her crystal clear voice opens up, and everyone in the room feels in their hearts that peace is truly possible.” - Body Mind Spirit Guide

Snatam Kaur - Mother's Blessing (2005)

Snatman Kaur & Prabhu Nam Kaur Mother's Blessing

MOTHER'S BLESSING is a beautiful collaboration between mother and daughter, Prabhu Nam Kaur and Snatam Kaur, in celebration of the Great Mother. The music stays in line with what one might expect from a Snatam Kaur album - sweet, dreamy arrangements, a mix of Eastern and Western instrumentation (harmonium, strings, Indian percussion, light synth) and tender singing. The mantras themselves are derived from the Sikh tradition of Gurbani kirtan. They offer praise and ask for blessings from the Great Mother. Snatam and Prabhu have wonderful harmony - both of their voices are pitched rather similarly, so they complement each other well. This is a great album for exploring spirituality or providing an environment of love and peace during meditation.

Five classical kirtan tracks feature the rich vocal interplay between Prabhu Nam Kaur and her daughter, Snatam Kaur. Accompanied by layers of tabla, harmonium, viola, bansuri, keyboards, guitar and bass guitar On this gentle, deeply moving album, the intimate, musical conversation between mother and daughter wraps you in a soothing blanket of sound.

These devotional hymns are from the Sikh tradition of Gurbani Kirtan. The words are direct transmissions from the Sound Current, recited by Amar Das, the bards Satte and Balwand, and Guru Arjan, who lived in 16th century India. Anyone who sings or listens to these words with meditative mind and heart will be transported into the Sound Current from which the words have come.

Snatam Kaur - Amrit Vela - Sadhana Chants (2000)

When the rains fall in Eugene, Oregon one of the best ways to lift the spirits is through meditation and music. When Snatam Kaur, Tarn Taran Singh, and Jai Jeet Sangeet Singh started playing music together, they seemed to pierce through the clouds with the power of their sounds. They began their musical journey by playing at the Yoga Center every Wednesday and Friday morning for the sadhana meditations. After months and months of playing with candlelight in the cozy company of early morning meditators, they decided to put their chants onto a CD, and they called it Amrit Vela. This CD is truly a work of art from the heart.

Track Listing:

1 Ek Ong Kar [07:24]
2 Wah Yantee, Kar Yantee [07:00]
3 Mul Mantra [07:12]
4 Sat Siri Siri Akal [07:19]
5 Rakhe Rakhanhar [07:38]
6 Wahe Guru Wahe Jio [22:21]
7 Guru Ram Das Chant [05:38]

Biography:
Snatam explored the power of sound in India. After high school, her love for the Indian musical tradition and for children took her to Miri Piri Academy, a boarding school for children in India. She spent time taking care of the young children, teaching physical education, and providing music for the children's morning and evening chanting. When she returned to the United States, she attended Mills College in Oakland, California, where she obtained a degree in biochemistry, taught yoga classes, and shared her chants with Western audiences. But India called her back. After touring and performing Kirtan in northern India, Snatam settled in Amritsar where she studied music with the accomplished ragi (Indian master of Sikh-style kirtan) Bhai Hari Singh. This was a great honor for her, and particularly meaningful because Singh was the same teacher who had taught her mother when she was just a little girl.

Snatam embraced everything that Singh taught her, from the technical aspects of the notes, to the ability to sing with presence and awareness. The lessons took place in Singh's home, where Snatam was welcomed by the entire family--daughters, sons, and grandchildren.

While in Amritsar, Snatam lived next door to the Golden Temple, considered the world's holiest Sikh temple. Sacred music resonates from inside the temple from about 2:30 in the morning to midnight every day-sounds created by world-class masters of Sikh kirtan. This enabled Snatam to continually soak in the essence of the Sound Current.

Upon returning to the US from India, Snatam began her career as a recording artist with a band called the Peace Family. She served as the band's lead singer and, with two skilled and accomplished musicians - Livtar Singh and GuruGanesha Singh, had her first opportunity to write songs. Two years later she began to develop her own sound and style and embarked on a very fruitful solo career.
